Frequently Asked Questions
What is 52Selects.com?
52 … as in weekly.
Selects … a photo editor's best picks from a photographer's work.
Why are your print prices so reasonably priced?
Because we don't offer "editioned" works. Some fine art photographers limit the number of prints they release in an edition, that is that the print may have the number 54/200. This means that the print is number 54 of a release of a total of 200 prints. Artists and photographers place premium prices on editioned works … and that's fine!
We decided to offer "uneditioned" prints – therefore no numbering – to bring the prices well within the reach of both established and aspiring collectors. For the price of one editioned print through a traditional gallery, the collector may be able to acquire six or more prints through 52Selects.com and our partner brick and mortar galleries.
But the 52Selects.com prints are signed?
In our "Signature Series" prints, each is signed onthe border by the photographer at the image edge. In our "Collector's Series" prints, the print is not signed but insteadis accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the photographer.
I know that you have an online gallery … but brick and mortar galleries?
Sure! Our first gallery partner is Ampersand Gallery & Bookstore in Portland, Oregon, and we'll partner with additional small venues as we grow..
One of the constant headaches of operating a small gallery is assuring the diversity of exhibitions. 52Selects.com will partner with small galleries around the US and Canada to supply works previously unattainable.
How do you find the images you offer at 52Selects.com?
Our curator, Ken Hawkins, is a veteran photojournalist of almost forty years and owned H2 Gallery in Atlanta. A few of his clients include Paris Match, TIME, Fortune, Forbes, Smithsonian, Newsweek and many other domestic and international magazines. He was also associated with the Paris based agency SYGMA for twenty years. Ken's passion for photojournalism and his enthusiasm to bring important, affordable images to both established and aspiring collectors drives our offerings.
Can I order prints larger than 11"x14" from 52Selects.com?
Absolutely! And in both the "Signature Series" and "Collector's Series" offerings. We offer the same images as archival C-Prints and also archival pigment prints on Hahnemule and Moab fine art strata.
How can I keep up with 52Select.com's offerings?
Just sign up for our weekly email announcements. And we hate spam … so we won't sell, rent or give away our email list. We promise!
Can I use one of the photographs on 52Selects.com in my blog or to place on my website?
Not without the written permission of the photographer and/or copyright holder. But we'll be glad to put you in touch with the creator of the work so that you may license usage directly from them.
Can I submit prints for exhibition at 52Selects.com?
If you're a photojournalist or documentary photographer, we'll be happy to look at your body of work as time permits, but please don't expect a critique. As they say in politics – we'll give you an up or down vote. The best way to present your work to us is to put up a web gallery and send a link to
. Please be patient for a response.
